Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
To hire a vehicle, you need to:
- To rent a vehicle from High Peak, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements stated in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing facilitated by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract additional charges, so please inform us promptly if a delay is anticipated. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, and we suggest reviewing these thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, or off-road driving, as well as any actions that may pose safety risks. Transporting dangerous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not built for, and adherence to passenger and weight limits is mandatory. Operating the vehicle outside of the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, High Peak Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the amount you paid for the rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revisions.
