Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, associated charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Requirements for Vehicle Rental

• To rent a vehicle from High Peak, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving license for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters must also present valid identification and proof of their current address, along with acceptable payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Booking and Payment Process

• Reservations with High Peak can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, which are processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by you. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.

Insurance and Liability Details

• All vehicle rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment terms differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

Prohibited Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

• The vehicle may not be used for unlawful purposes or activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other form of hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Additionally, driving outside the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, High Peak Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.

Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
